We raised our first Active Flag this morning and what a wonderful way to mark the end of a great year. The flag was raised by Ireland Rugby players Robbie Henshaw and Liam Winnett. Liam plays rugby for Ireland Under-18s and is a past pupil of St. Paul’s. Liam and Robbie are first cousins. Many thanks to them both for coming in to see us this morning. We are also very grateful to Ms. McTague for coordinating the Active Flag campaign and to the Active Committee for all their hard work throughout the year.
Awards for great attendance were presented this week. Well done to all the children who missed no days in the last term and especially to those who missed zero or very few days throughout the year. Keep up the good work!
We had a lovely end of year celebration for First Class today. Fr. Martin Mulvaney led us in a beautiful mass which was followed by the presentation of the graduation certificates and attendance awards. Congratulations to all our graduates and best wishes in second class in your new schools in September. It has been a pleasure to teach you and we will miss you all!
Today was Sports Day and it was a super end to Active Week 2018. Ms. McTague organised lots of different activities to take part in including relay races, parachute games, straw hunt, construction, obstacle courses, ball games, orienteering and dance games. We had an extra special station this year. Dylan from Wolfpack Kick-Boxing club did a taster session with all the classes which all the children loved.
Day 3 of Active Week was fantastic. Yaz, our hiphop teacher gave all the classes a taster session of hiphop in the morning. Then in the afternoon it was the parent’s turn. They were taught a dance in the hall. We then had ‘Beat on Lyster Street’ where the parents and their children all came together to perform the dance in the sunshine. You can see from the videos that they all had a lot of fun. Many thanks to all parents for being a great sport and joining in. Thanks also to Yaz and especially Ms. McTague and Mrs. Fagan for organising the event.
